Rosebud Police Senior Citizens Register Inc.

The Rosebud Police Senior Citizens Register Inc. is a pro-active police strategy which aims to promote 'confident and secure living'.  The service is provided free-of-charge and registration is voluntary.  Members receive an information newsletter three times a year.

Background

The Rosebud Police Senior Citizens Register Inc.  was introduced at Rosebud, Victoria in 1995. The census in 1991 indicated that in the area covered by the Register, there were in excess of 10,500 residents aged 60 and over.  A recent check revealed that almost 4000 citizens had signed up for the Register.  The Rosebud Police Senior Citizens Register Inc.  is supported by Victoria Police, however staffing for the service is provided by a dedicated group of volunteers.

Currently, in 2008 there are many more "Registers" now operating across Victoria. It is hoped that one day the program will spread interstate.  There has been interest shown also by visiting overseas Police personnel.
